Late May saw my debut novella, Raving About Rhys, embarking on a week-long blog tour to celebrate his three-year anniversary and early June saw Searching for Steven’s turn, also celebrating three years since his initial release.
Many of the bloggers who’d participated in Rhys’s tour also participated in Steven’s but there were maybe three or four different bloggers involved this time.
Rhys had set a very high bar with so many amazing reviews and I was a little apprehensive as to whether Steven would be able to match up to the high standard set. Because Rhys is a novella, he’s a much shorter fun read which some people will prefer, but Steven has more opportunity for depth and twists and turns with being four times as long. Would the bloggers like this more?
The good news is that they loved it. Phew!
When I did Rhys’s round-up, I started with a quote from everyone and the article became absolutely enormous. I had to massively cut out the quotes but it still ended up being really long so I’m going to be a lot more succinct with this one and provide links to the full reviews (click on the blog name to get taken direct to the review) but only a few quick quotes. Or at least that’s the intention. Remind me when I’m still writing this in 2 hours!
So, a huge thank you to all the following who very kindly read and reviewed Searching for Steven, all awarding 4, 4.5 or 5 stars. Yippee!
“The author really is just superb at creating characters. The writing itself is as accomplished as ever, even though it was the author’s first book – beautiful tender moments, times of real sadness, plenty of laughs, misunderstandings put right, and the whole infused with a warmth that can’t fail to bring a wide smile to your face as you read. Just wonderful… now, when can I fit in the reading of her other books?”
“I just love Redland’s way of writing. She has a way of putting me right in the story as if I were a character myself watching the story unfold right before my eyes. I am anxiously awaiting her next book.”
“I’m not normally into romance but this was something special, really special. So well written it brought a tear to my eye. We all need lifting sometimes and this is just the book to do it. If you are having a bad day pick this up and restore your faith in friendships and human nature. A real sparkling treasure of a read.”
“I’m having real difficulty review into words because all I want to say is aww! (It gave me all the feels as the kids say) This book will make you laugh, cry and fall in love all within three hundred pages. Not only does the writing flow well, making it fun and easy to read, the characters are fantastic too.”
“If it's any indication of the rest of the trilogy, there is SO MUCH reading fun to be had! This one had me in stitches, so yes....Romantic Comedy DEFINITELY fits the bill! From Auntie Kay's meddling to Sarah's friends with conflicting personalities, her quest for THE Steven to her antics at the shop, I had a BLAST with this one from ecover to ecover.”
A huge, enormous, gargantuan thank you goes to the fabulously organised and brilliant Rachel Gilbey from Rachel’s Random Resources. I highly recommend using her to organise a tour for you if there are any authors out there seeking more exposure. I’m looking forward to working with Rachel again in September when Bear With Me will be going on a blog tour.
Finally, I was so overwhelmed by the lovely reviews and offered anyone who’d reviewed Steven copies of Getting Over Gary and Dreaming About Daran. It was so lovely to have 11 responses back straightaway saying they’d be thrilled, and I know of one more who would love to but is taking a highly-deserved break over the summer. I’m very excited to hear what they think of the rest of the trilogy. Watch this space for news!
