I’ve always loved reading and writing, but I never considered writing as a career until a former manager suggested I write a book because my business reports read more like stories. Great idea, but what on earth would I write about?
A year or so later, a friend presented me with a gift voucher for a telephone clairvoyant to help me through a crossroads in my life and career. That telephone call changed my life. The clairvoyant told me that I was going to move back home, start my own business, then meet and marry the man of my dreams. Oh, and his name would be Steven! Let the search commence! I didn’t actually find Steven, but I did find the premise for my first novel.
In September 2014, I was excited to secure a three-book publishing contract but the company ceased trading after my books had been released so, with my rights back, I re-launched those books as an indie writer. I released further titles then, in early 2019, was thrilled to secure an amazing 9-book publishing deal with Boldwood Books for a combination of brand new stories and re-issues of some of my back catalogue. I've since signed contracts for the remaining 3 books in my back-catalogue making this a whopping 12-book deal.
Initially all my stories were set in Whitsborough Bay, a fictional North Yorkshire seaside town inspired by the towns and villages along the stunning North Yorkshire Coast, particularly Scarborough where I live. However, in 2020, I released the first book in a fresh series in a new location on the Yorkshire Wolds.
I write uplifting stories of love and friendship. There'll always be a romance thread but sometimes the main focus of the story is friendships and/or family and the romance sits alongside this.
I live with my husband (a non-Steven), my daughter, Ella the sprocker spaniel, and an ever-growing hug of collectible teddy bears although, if Ella has her way, they'll be a collection of heads and limbs instead!
My dream was always to write full-time and, in summer 2020, that dream came true. I still can't believe I get to spend my days talkign to my imaginary friends and making stuff up!
